This photograph is conclusive proof that car eating trolls that live under motorway bridges do celebrate Christmas.

For many years the government has allowed trolls to live underneath motorway bridges so as to reduce traffic congestion but their image has been somewhat stoney-faced. Now the trolls have been instructed not to snatch cars over the Christmas period and to portray a more caring seasonal outlook. Similar instructions have also been given to Tax Inspectors with no effect.

A government spokesperson said, "The police have enough problems at this time of the year with drunk drivers swerving all over the motorway without the added risk of trolls dashing out from their lairs and causing their usual chaos. We thought that giving the trolls Christmas trees might improve the way the driver views these useful public servants. However, reports of gangs of heavily armed lorry drivers pulling into the hard shoulder and stealing the presents from under the trees are being investigated. If the lorry drivers are going to behave like this then we may have to do a U-turn on this policy."

One motorway troll said, "It will be a long hard Christmas for us starving trolls, I'd kill for a Polo or a Galaxy."
